REGULAR SESSION

OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE

COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT OF SOUTH TAMA COUNTY

 

The Board of Directors of the Community School District of South Tama County met on January 20, 2014 in Regular Session meeting at the Professional Learning Room, Partnership Center, Tama, Iowa at 5:32 p.m.

On call of the roll the following were present:  Michelle Yuska, Mark McFate, Alan Kline and Anne Michael.  Absent – Jackie Dvorak.  Quorum Present         

Also present were: Kerri Nelson, Mary Boege, Kevin Nelson, Paula Neyens, Jon Huebner and Donna Smith.  Roger Wacha joined the meeting later.

Motion by Yuska, second by Michael to approve the agenda.  All Ayes.

Motion by Michael, second by Yuska to approve the consent agenda approving the minutes of the December 16, 2013 meeting and January 13, 2014 work session, financials, bills for payment as presented and an early graduation request for D.R.   All Ayes.

Public Comments:

Kevin Nelson spoke for the group of teachers that were present stating that they were there for the discussion on the Teacher Leadership and Compensation Grant.

Motion by Yuska, second by Kline to approve the following personnel changes. All Ayes

Contracts – Sarah Leick – HS Special Ed, Amy Nachazel – Bus Driver

Officiating – John Bartello – Wrestling, Jordan Bleil – Wrestling, Andrew May – Wrestling, Mike McElmeel - Wrestling

Resignations – Paula Neyens – High School Science

Motion by Michael, second by Kline to approve the contract with Ames Environmental of $20,376 for asbestos removal at the high school.  All Ayes.

Motion by Yuska, second by Michael for the district to continue to use the existing planning grant funds to further refine the Teacher Leadership and Compensation plan and submit the full application in January 2015.  All Ayes.

Motion by Yuska, second by Michael to adjourn the meeting at 5:54 p.m.  All Ayes.
