OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE
COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT OF SOUTH TAMA COUNTY
The Board of Directors of the Community School District of South Tama County met on October 20, 2014 in a Regular Session meeting at the Professional Learning Room, Partnership Center, Tama, Iowa at 5:30 p.m.
On call of the roll the following were present: Michelle Yuska, Anne Michael, Alan Kline and Jackie Dvorak. Absent – Mark McFate. Quorum Present
Also present were: Kerri Nelson, Mary Boege, Joyce Wiese of the local press, Donna Smith, Jon Huebner, Steve McAdoo, Kym Stein and Adam Anderson.
Motion by Dvorak, second by Kline to approve the agenda moving the discussion item – High School Gymnasium Floor to after Public Comments. All Ayes.
Motion by Michael, second by Dvorak to approve the consent agenda approving the minutes of the September 22, 2014 meeting, financials, bills for payment as presented and the early graduation request of S.B. All Ayes.
Maintenance Supervisor Steve McAdoo and Superintendent Nelson discussed the current problem with moisture in the flooring in the high school gymnasium and possible solutions.
Motion by Kline, second by Michael to approve the following personnel changes. All Ayes
Contracts – Kellye Musel – MS Sp Ed Aide, Eugenia Castanon – HS Ed Aide, April Valladares – MS Sp Ed Aide, Charlotte Shadden – Bus Driver, Randy Thompson – Bus Driver, Ian Tayner – Head Varsity Boys Soccer, Lon Wilkerson – Assistant HS Boys Basketball, Kasey Smith – Assistant Girls Basketball
Transfers – Tammy Weiss – HS Educ Aide to HS Media Aide, Wendy Hindermeister HS Sp Ed Aide 5 hours to HS Sp Ed Aide 7 hours, Kathy Ferneau Elem Foodservice to MS Foodservice.
Termination – Garrett Kubik – Bus Driver
Resignations – Shelby Pennington-Farmer – HS Sp Ed, Taylor Nitz – Assistant Varsity Baseball, Madison Henriquez – MS Foodservice, Stan Zeutenhorst – Bus Driver.
Motion by Kline second by Michael to approve the application for the Teacher Leadership and Compensation Grant. All Ayes.
Superintendent Nelson Reviewed the Certified Enrollment with the Board. South Tama County Schools’ enrollment is up 59 students.
Superintendent Nelson informed the Board of an ELL Grant for extended learning and summer school that has been applied for.
Kym Stein and Adam Anderson were present to discuss the Celebrate My Drive campaign. South Tama is currently in 3rd place.
Superintendent Nelson reviewed the need to have Hazing Policies in place.
Motion by Kline, second by Dvorak to adjourn the meeting at 6:28 p.m. All Ayes.
