REGULAR SESSION

OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE

COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT OF SOUTH TAMA COUNTY

 

The Board of Directors of the Community School District of South Tama County met on January 22, 2018 in Regular Session at the Partnership Center, Tama, Iowa at 5:30 p.m.

 

On call of the roll the following were present:  Alan Kline, Penny Tyynismaa and Mandy Lekin.  Quorum Present.  Absent:  Jackie Dvorak and Ronald Houghton.

 

Also present were: Jeff Berger, Mary Boege, Becky Durand and Jon Huebner.

 

Motion by Lekin second by Kline to approve the agenda.  All Ayes.

 

Motion by Kline, second by Lekin to approve the consent agenda approving the minutes of the December 18, 2017, and January 8, 2018 meetings, financials, bills for payment as presented and an Early Graduation request for J.H..

 

Public Comments - None

 

Motion by Lekin, second by Kline to approve the following personnel requests as presented.  All Ayes

 

Officials - Bob Averill - Basketball, John Bartello - Wrestling, Jordan Bleil - Wrestling, Randy Clark - Volleyball, Jim Hall - Basketball, Bruce Johnson - Basketball, Tom Kemper - Basketball, Steve Klingaman - Wrestling, Andrew May - Wrestling, Dave Nitz - Basketball, Dan Rhine - Volleyball, Glen Taylor - Basketball, Jeremy Weiermann - Basketball, Bob Yilek - Wrestling.

 

Motion by Lekin second by Kline to approve the review of the Impact Aid Indian Education Policies and Procedures.  All Ayes.

 

Motion by Lekin, second by Kline to approve the Impact Aid application.  All Ayes.

 

Motion by Lekin, second by Kline to approve the contract with Street Smarts for drivers education from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2020.  All Ayes.

 

Motion by Kline, second by Lekin to approve the hiring of the Grundmeyer Leader Search Firm to conduct the Superintendent search for South Tama.  All Ayes.

 

Curriculum Director Becky Durand updated the Board on the curriculum and professional development that has been taking place this year so far and plans for moving forward.

 

Superintendent Berger reviewed with the Board the draft copy of the District Employee Handbook.  It will be brought back to the board for approval in February.

 

Motion by Lekin, second by Kline to adjourn the meeting at 6:55 p.m.  All Ayes.
