REGULAR SESSION

OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE

COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT OF SOUTH TAMA COUNTY

 

The Board of Directors of the Community School District of South Tama County met on May 16, 2016 in Regular Session meeting at the Professional Learning Room, Partnership Center, Tama, Iowa at 6:06 p.m.

 

On call of the roll the following were present:  Michelle Yuska, Mark McFate, Alan Kline, Jackie Dvorak and Penny Tyynismaa.  Quorum Present.         

Also present were: Mary Jones, Mary Boege, Joyce Wiese, Steve McAdoo, Jon Huebner, Adam VanGorp, Taylor Zobel, Charlotte Upah and Roger Wacha Jr.

 

Motion by Dvorak, second by Kline to approve the agenda.  All Ayes.

 

Motion by McFate second by Dvorak to approve the consent agenda approving the minutes of the April 18, 2016 and May 2, 2016 meetings, financials, bills for payment as presented and Early Graduation for A.J.  All Ayes.

 

Public Comments:

None

 

Motion by Kline, second by McFate to approve the following personnel requests as presented. All Ayes

 

Contracts - Mark Watts - Boys Track Starter

Resignations - Jill Kalinay - Preschool, Katie Andreasen - Elementary TAG, Jessica Bunnell - Elementary Art, Rick Meisner - Assistant 7th Football, Scotti Hagensick - MS Counselor.

 

Motion by Tyynismaa, second by Kline to approve the bid from WBC Mechanical for $26,352 to remove and replace all tubes in boilers 1 and 2 at the Middle School.  All Ayes.

 

Motion by Kline, second by Dvorak to approve the Title VII Application for the 2016-17 School Year.  All Ayes.

 

Motion by Tyynismaa, second by McFate to approve the Summer Food Service Application.  All Ayes.

 

Motion by Kline, second by McFate to approve the Bond Counsel Engagement Agreement with Ahlers & Cooney P.C.  All Ayes.

 

Building Project - Discussion was held concerning the bids received.  Superintendent Jones will contact other schools that have used the bidders.  Financials will be developed to show the effect on the financing if the school would have a declining enrollment.

 

Superintendent Jones updated the Board on a request to use the school grounds for a Civil War Re-Enactment.  More information will be sought before a decision is made.

 

Motion by Tyynismaa, second by Dvorak  to adjourn the meeting at 6:33 p.m.   All Ayes.
