SPECIAL SESSION

OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE

COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT OF SOUTH TAMA COUNTY

 

The Board of Directors of the Community School District of South Tama County met on December 3, 2018 in Special Session at the Partnership Center, Tama, Iowa at 5:30 p.m.

 

On call of the roll the following were present:   Ron Houghton,  Alan Kline, Mandy Lekin and Penny Tyynismaa.   Quorum Present.  Absent - Jackie Dvorak.  Dvoark joined the meeting at 5:35 p.m.

 

Also present were: Jared Smith, Mary Boege, Shawn Snyder, Heather Garrett and John Speer.

 

Motion by Kline second by Lekin to approve the agenda.  All Ayes.

 

Public Comments - None

 

Motion by Lekin, second by Kline to approve the following personnel requests as presented.  All Ayes

 

Contracts - Jennifer Perez - Secondary Family/School Liaison.

Resignations - Amy Dolash - Head HS Volleyball.

 

Motion by Kline second by Houghton to approve the Elementary At-Risk Liaison from a part-time to full-time position   All Ayes.

 

Motion by Lekin second by Dvorak to approve the revision to the Retirement Incentive Form and Retirement Incentive Policy 402.52.  All Ayes.

 

Motion by Kline, second by Dvorak to waive the Second Reading of Policy 402.52 Retirement Incentive and to make the changes final.  All Ayes.

 

Motion by Lekin, second by Kline to approve the retirement incentive for 2019 retirees with the annual payment maximum of $7,500 per year.  All Ayes.

 

Motion by Kline, second by Houghton  to tentatively approve the addition of the new Science Club pending more information on the cost and funding sources.  All Ayes.

 

Superintendent Smith updated the Board on the School Resource Officer and a Long Range Facilities Plan.

 

Motion by Kline, second by Dvorak to adjourn the meeting at 6:18  p.m. into a work session with Shawn Snyder from IASB for a financial overview of the district.   All Ayes.
