STC's LaZayla Henderson was among a group of Iowa students recognized by Iowa Governor's Office for their outstanding artwork. LaZayla is a second grade student at South Tama Elementary and is the daughter of the late Miechelle Fisher, the granddaughter of Denise Fisher, and the niece of Danielle Fisher. STC Elementary Art Teacher Jessica Bunnell submitted LaZayla's work which was chosen to be on display in Governor Terry Branstad's formal office at the state capitol building.

Families are invited to attend the Tama County Family STEM Festival on Sunday, April 3 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the South Tama County Elementary School in Tama. The festival is free and open to the public.
The goals of the festival are to promote, inspire and engage youth in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) activities and to introduce children and parents to STEM careers in their local communities.
More than 25 exhibits will feature hands-on, interactive STEM activities for K-6th grade students and their families but all ages are welcome to attend. Attendees can ride an energy bike, drive a robot, visit STEM learning lab, conduct amazing science experiments, explore the healthcare field and much more!
The Tama County Family STEM Festival is a community-wide partnership led by Northeast Iowa Region Governor’s STEM Advisory Council at the University of Northern Iowa, South Central Iowa Region Governor’s STEM Advisory Council at Drake University, as well as AEA 267, Tama County Conservation Board, South Tama, North Tama, Union, Meskwaki, Gladbrook-Reinbeck, GMG, and Belle Plaine Community Schools.

The South Tama Title VII Leadership and Staff will be holding a meeting on Thursday March 24 (6:00 pm) at the STC Elementary. This committee will review current school programs offered to Native American students on an equal basis to all other children. The committee will review the policies and procedures of the programming and staff delivering Title VII supports to Native American students.

ALERT: SES (Educare) activities as well as the Elementary Boosters meeting scheduled for tonight (Feb. 8) will be cancelled due to weather concerns. The Elementary Boosters meeting will be rescheduled at a date TBD.
A memorial mass for Samantha Hansen will be held tomorrow, January 26th, at 5:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church.
