On November 20th, South Tama Elementary was awarded the Breaking Barriers Award from the Iowa Department of Education for our extraordinary efforts and proficiency rates in reading and math for our Native American students.  Our Native American students that attend South Tama Elementary scored significantly higher in reading and math on the Iowa Assessments compared to other schools in the state of Iowa.  We are proud of this honor and thank the dedication and commitment to all our teachers, students, staff and families to help make this happen!  From left to right, State Rep. Dean Fisher, Kerri Nelson, Mary Sherwood, Charlene Rosenfelder and Jim Bugge.
