The South Tama County Middle School Student-Athlete Spotlight is on Kaitlyn Riha.  Kaitlyn is a 7th grader at STC.  She is a point guard for the Trojan basketball team.

With the start of the 2014 basketball season here, Kaitlyn has developed into a true leader on and off the court. In practice, she leads by example by doing everything with 100% effort. “Katie is constantly pushing to make herself and her teammates better while on the basketball court, and is a great asset for the team.” says Coach Van Zante. The lady Trojans will look for Kaitlyn to develop a strong presence as a ball handler and outside shooter.

Kaitlyn is an active middle schooler. In addition to basketball, she is involved in volleyball, softball, track & field, and Friends for Change. She is a member of Pam’s School of Dance and enjoys drawing and dancing in her free time.

Kaitlyn has proved to be an accomplished student in the classroom as well. She has been an Honor Roll student during her 2 years at the middle school. She is an academic award medalist. Even with her busy schedule, Kaitlyn has maintained a 4.0 grade point average.

Kaitlyn is the middle daughter of Vicki and Rich Riha of rural Tama. Her sisters, Alexis and Breanna, join her in the middle school.
