Malynda Chizek Frouard, a 2003 graduate of South Tama, presented information about the
upcoming solar eclipse to multiple grades at the elementary.  Malynda works as an astronomer in
Washington, D.C.  She shared pictures of the sun taken with a telescope and modeled how an
eclipse happens.  The solar eclipse taking place this year on August 21st will be the first total
solar eclipse to cross the United States in over 30 years.  The eclipse will occur from 11:44 - 2:34
in Tama and Toledo.  Malynda shared information with students about how to safely view an eclipse
by using specially designed glasses or a pinhole projector.
