The South Tama Archery Club will host it's first ever National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Archery Tournament this Saturday (12/5) at the STC High School Gym. The first flight of archers are scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. and the tournament will run throughout the day and into the afternoon. Archers from 19 schools from across the state are scheduled to attend. STC parents, students, and community members are encouraged to attend and support a growing program that serves a variety of students.
Although the South Tama Archery Club is just in it's second season, it has quickly grown it's roster of STC student participants to over 40 (3rd - 12th grade). Following the STC Tournament the club will travel to a variety of other tournaments throughout the state.
Last season the club competed in tournaments including the Iowa Games and ended the year by sending two students (Mackenzie Beyer and Alaria Harken, pictured below) to compete in the state tournament in Des Moines.
The club took eleven archers to the Iowa Games this past July. Pictured are (L-R): first row Coach Brian Harken, Grace Smith, Caleb Cosgrove, Wade Cosgrove, Ashlynn Ellenbecker, Boden Koehler; second row Jessica Nachazel, Ariel Kofstad, Alarie Harken, Coach Dick Koehler, Skyler Stevenson, Mitch Knock, Coach Aaron Haughey and Morgan Haughey.
If parents or students have questions or would like to learn more about the club, you can contact Coach Dick Koehler or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
