Welcome to South Tama County High School.
We are proud to be part of a supportive community for our students and staff.

Our current student enrollment is approximately 430 students in grades nine through twelve.  As a 3A school we offer many activities for our students to participate in as well as events for our community to support.  Our focus at South Tama High School is student learning and we have many exciting researched based learning activities for our students.  This is the second school year we have implemented Kagan Structures in all of our classrooms.  This we hope will not only increase learning , but will teach students the valuable skill of working with others.  IDM, Instructional Decision Making model along with professional learning community concept has provided an environment that insures all students have the opportunity to improve their learning. Our teachers and staff are willing to take the time to build positive relationships with our students.  It is this caring culture that makes the difference with student learning at South Tama High School. Success is measured one student at a time and is an expectation for all students as well as staff.  Our Parents and Teachers working together will make a difference.  So, please join us at South Tama High School, a school on the move with a focus on learning.

Board Approves New 2012-2013 Courses

Staff members at the High School have worked aggressively to develop a more rigorous curriculum and increase the number of course options for students.  The result of this effort has been the development of several new courses that will be available starting with the 2012-2013 school year.  These changes, recently approved by the STC Board of Education, will not require an increase in the number of staff members at the High School. The only anticipated increased cost will be the purchase of textbooks for some of the courses.
