Each applicant for a position in the South Tama County Community Schools will complete the forms found in the links on this page. If the applicant is elected and accepts a position in the South Tama County Community Schools, the information becomes a part of the employee’s professional record. Hiring Procedures for Administrators and Certified Staff

Once a position has been advertised and applications are received the district begins the screening process. This includes reviewing all applications, contacting references, completing a thorough background check, and conducting interviews. If you are selected for an interview you will be notified in advance of the date. It is expected that applicants are on time and prepared for the interview. If you need to reschedule or cancel your interview please notify us in advance by contacting arobson@s-tama.k12.ia.us or 641-484-4811 or the person that you are scheduled to meet with. We will try to accommodate your request depending on the scheduled timeline and availability of staff to complete the interviews.

Please make arrangements to meet with the interview team for approximately one hour. For some positions you may be asked to attend a second interview that may involve more people and may be more in depth. If after going through the process the District determines it has not found a candidate with the right background, interests, skills and abilities to best meet the needs of our students the District reserves the right to reconsider previously screened applicants and/or re-advertise the position. Applicants will be notified once a position has been filled.

Background Checks

As a result of your application, the South Tama County Community School District will request criminal and other records background checks to verify that a candidate has no known record which impacts on license suspension or revocation or other background that would make them unsuited for the particular position in a work environment that includes the presence of children. In addition to the application you must complete the Release and Application Background Check Form and submit this with your initial application in order to be considered for the position.

Certification

The applicant is responsible for obtaining and renewing certification or licensure. Salary Schedule

Certified staff members are placed on the current salary schedule in accordance with their training and experience. Hiring bonuses, advancement or adjustments to the salary schedule must be approved by the Superintendent and/or Board of Education.
