Greetings from the Superintendent

Attention South Tama County Trojans,

It is an exciting time to be the Superintendent of South Tama County Schools.  As your Superintendent, I am eager to continue to “listen ~ learn ~ lead” as we continue our journey together.  At South Tama, we value our rich culture and diversity, together we are stronger.

The goals and expectations we have for our learners are robust.  We will build upon the strengths within South Tama County and enhance areas to allow us to become an even stronger District.  Through building meaningful connections between the school and the community, we will further enhance our PK-12 student achievement. I look forward to further developing “The Trojan Way” within each of our buildings.  Our vision is for STC Schools to be a place “Where EVERY student has a Plan”

To create a plan for each student, we must realize that student learning is at the center of our efforts.  Through these efforts, students will be afforded opportunities to apply their learning to real-world situations, problems and scenarios.

As a District, we outline our Strategic Plan around 5 Strategic Anchors.  As part of each Strategic Anchor, we share a core value or belief that guides our organizational behavior.  These are outlined below:

At South Tama Schools, we aim to create an atmosphere where staff feel valued, trusted and respected.  When we have passionate people in the right places, it is our job to provide them with the resources and support to perform their job at a high level.

  • Strategic Anchor 2: Guarantee Exceptional Learning Opportunities

At South Tama Schools, we guarantee effective teaching in every classroom as we realize teachers have the greatest impact on student learning.  To ensure high levels of learning occur with our diverse population, we follow the SIOP Model as the centerpiece for instruction.

  • Strategic Anchor 3: Emphasize Data and Measure Progress

At South Tama Schools, we measure what matters and utilize data to inform decision making.  By analyzing the progress of our students, connecting data to our mission and vision, we will collectively be committed to the work of our organization.

  • Strategic Anchor 4: Inspire Success and Share OUR Story

At South Tama Schools, we build our students’ confidence and help them realize their potential.  Every child brings unique talents and abilities to our buildings and we believe it is our responsibility to ensure our students are aware of the special qualities they each possess.

At South Tama Schools, we deliver “5” star service to our students and families.  Every STC employee is dedicated to creating a culture of excellence through providing exceptional customer service.  We know when we embrace excellence, the end result is greater student learning and enhanced community engagement.

As your Superintendent, I ask for your support, honest feedback and engagement.  I firmly believe we are in this together.  As a District, we need to work together, our children need for us to work together and our community needs for us to work together.  I look forward to championing this work with you.
