SPECIAL SESSION

OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE

COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT OF SOUTH TAMA COUNTY

 

The Board of Directors of the Community School District of South Tama County met on January 8, 2018 in Special Session at the Partnership Center, Tama, Iowa at 5:30 p.m.

 

On call of the roll the following were present:  Alan Kline, Penny Tyynismaa,  Jackie Dvorak and Mandy Lekin. Absent - Ronald Houghton Quorum Present.

 

Also present were: Jeff Berger, Mary Boege, Allison Graham, Rhonda Shaw, Dan Lopez and Jon Huebner.

 

Motion by Dvoark second by Lekin to approve the agenda.  All Ayes.

 

Public Comments - None

 

Special Education Director Kym Stein and Superintendent Berger updated the Board on the Special Education Program.

 

Motion by Kline, second by Lekin to approve the following personnel requests as presented.  All Ayes

 

Resignations - Thea Lester  - HS Special Education Aide.

 

Motion by Lekin second by Kline to add an additional 40 hours to Jeri Ellenbecker's High School Concessions supplemental contract.  All Ayes.

 

Motion by Lekin, second by Dvoark to approve posting a bid for Activity, Prom, Graduation and Homecoming pictures for the 2018-19 school year.  All Ayes.

 

Motion by Lekin, second by Dvorak to approve the final reading of the following Board Policies.  All Ayes

 

402.011 Discriminatory Harassment Prohibited, 402.012 - Discriminatory Harassment Incident Investigation Procedures, 402.012 - Discriminatory Harassment Incident Complaint Form, 402.012 E2 - Discriminatory Harassment Incident Witness Disclosure Form, 402.012 E3 - Discriminatory Harassment Incident Disposition of Complaint Form, 502.11 - Anti-Bullying, Anti-Harassment, and Hazing Prohibited, 502.11 E1 - Anti-Bullying, Anti-Harassment and Hazing Investigation Procedures, 502.11 E2 - Anti-Bullying, Anti-Harassment and Hazing Incident Complaint Form, 502.11 E3 - Anti-Bullying, Anti-Harassment and Hazing Incident Witness Disclosure Form, 502.11 E4 - Anti-Bullying. Motion by Kline, second by Dvorak to accept the resignation of Superintendent Jeff Berger at the end of the 2017-2018 school year.  All Ayes.

 

Motion by Lekin, second by Dvorak to seek bids from search firms to conduct a superintendent search to find a replacement for the 2018-19 school year.  All Ayes.

 

Superintendent Berger and Dan Lopez reviewed with the Board the Extended Family Vacation Guidelines. 

 

The approval process for the 2018-19 school calendar was discussed.  Superintendent Berger will meet with a group of staff members and bring back a recommendation to the Board for approval.

 

Motion by Kline, second by Dvorak to adjourn the meeting at 5:57 p.m.  All Ayes.
